Also, it is important to pay attention to minor symptoms. Stress is the result of the individual perception of the situations of the past, present or future, especially when there is a belief that there is no way out of such situations. How to relieve stress? Are there any stress relief techniques?

A man can react badly when for a long period there is too much stress, but and when there is too little stress. Having too little stress can be as bad as having too much stress. Stress is not always bad for us, but it is important to control it. Controlled stress makes us feel happy and productive, while uncontrolled can hurt or even kill us. It is therefore important efficient planning and setting priorities in life. There is no universal technique for controlling stress, but here are some tips for stress relief. These stress relief techniques are also something which will prevent too much stress.

Plan!

Make sure you are well organized! This doesn’t mean to be a control freak, but to have a simple day plan just to be sure you won’t forget something important. Also, bear in mind that it is not the end of the world if you don’t stick to the plan because there are some things that we can’t control, so relax and don’t worry, you will have plenty of time tomorrow to finish the work. You can find free planners online or you can make it one yourself.

Make priorities!

When you already made your plan for the day, week or month, make sure you have priorities. I personally feel really stressed when I have a lot of things to do but don’t know which one first. So I always tend in these situations to make some time to organize my priorities and to make sure which goes first. Also, make sure to bring this list with you everywhere.

Write a diary!

Writing about the things that you are experiencing and your feelings in a diary is a very helpful stress relief technique. Your diary will be your safe place. You can add photos, songs, dreams, feelings, to-do list, places you want to visit, worries, “unsent” letters to someone, forbidden wishes etc. Just make sure no one knows about your diary and put it in a safe place. Your diary will be a place where you can work on your problems, to fight with your feelings, to express them in a creative and honest way and to find a solution to your problem. This is the only place where you can be completely honest and not worry about being judged. Also, make sure to read it after a while. This will help you to understand yourself better and also to be proud.

Write down at least one good thing that happened today!

This is something for your diary. Don’t forget this step when stressed because being grateful is the most important thing while going through stressed periods. It is not healthy and good to give importance only to bad events. Good events are also very important and deserve to be honored.

Get away!

Make sure you have 15 – 30 minutes self-time in your plan. And this is a priority. Every day get away for half an hour and do whatever you want. You know what makes you happy and what relaxes you. I always chose to drink coffee or tea. Drinking coffee is my escape plan and the perfect time to write. Writing is my meditation. You can take a nap, meditate, read or just do nothing. Also, you can use this time to write down good things that happened in your diary.

Workout!

The best and most effective stress relief technique is working out. If you don’t have time to go to the gym, use this time to walk in the park, run, or just take your cleaning cloths and clean the house. Cleaning is very helpful for women because it is a physical activity and also saves a lot of time and money. Clean, shiny and good smelling house is priceless. Make a cleaning plan for each day of the week, month and year. Make sure to organize your wardrobe too. Throwing away old clothes and stuff is a good stress relief technique.

 Pray/Meditate!

If you are religious pray every night before bed. Praying is actually a meditation, so if you are not religious, you can call it a meditation time in your pajamas. Prayer is something that calms us, fills us with positive energy and most importantly with hope. Hope is what we need in stressful times. Also, prayer and meditation involve physical activity, so these 5 minutes are good for your body too. Muslim prayer is actually a physical activity which is cleansing your body and the same happens with yoga. Physical activity awakens our body and helps it to function better and to fight stress.  If you meditate or pray, always take care of your body position and the position of your spine. This will help you to get a better night sleep too because meditation will bring you a sense of calm, peace and balance. You can find guided meditations online and you can practice them anywhere at any time.

 Get enough sleep!

Having trouble falling asleep is a very common symptom of too much stress. Quality sleep is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress. First of all, you have to make sure you have a bedtime routine. Clean bed, quite a room, and relaxing schedule are some tips that can help you to fall asleep. Also make sure you don’t have a TV, lap top, or phone around you. Close your eyes and relax.

Make your home/office beautiful!

Having a relaxing and beautiful environment helps reduce stress. There are a lot of creative ways to make your home or office relaxing. First of all, make sure you surround yourself with colors that lift your spirits. Find a picture or a view and look at it for a while. If you can’t find a beautiful view, then just close your eyes and picture a place that feels relaxing. Also, make sure you wear comfortable and soft clothes. I love blankets. I always have a few warm blankets on my bed and I wrap myself while drinking tea, reading a book or just napping. Also, a fresh smelling environment helps with stress. So light a candle, smell fresh flowers or just spritz on your favorite perfume.

 Listen to music!

Take a break and listen to a relaxing music. This has a positive effect on your brain and body also. If you love music, this can be the perfect time to dance and dancing is a great stress relief technique. If you are a not music fan, then try listening to nature sounds. Ocean, birds, wind sound etc.

These are 10 stress relief techniques but also don’t forget to take a deep breath. Breathing is the most important step in all of these stress relief techniques. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply because deep breathing clears your mind and oxygenates your body. And if you feel like neither of these stress relief techniques is helping, seek counseling. Therapy is a great way to relieve stress and to identify the sources of your stress and also to learn new coping tools.
