Tips How To Overcome And Naturally Treat Anxiety From A Psychologist. Heal Your Soul And Get Rid Of Anxiety For Good

When someone is suffering from an anxiety disorder, the problem is that the anxiety does not go away which can interfere with daily activities.

I always recommend psychotherapy for people who suffer anxiety, getting personal help and medication, but there are also some home remedies for anxiety which are a great way if you want to treat it naturally. Or at least try.

Before continuing, I must repeat that if you have an anxiety disorder, you must consult with your doctor. Everything you read online can help you a lot, but before trying anything new, you must consult with a professional. The following recommendations are desirable and suitable for everyone, and I believe they will help you. But we are all different, and any state of anxiety is not the same as it can pass by itself.

Many types of disorders require specialized testing and observation to confirm, but here are some of the common symptoms of anxiety disorder that occur at most. A single sign does not mean that you are suffering from an anxiety disorder. But, as I have said, each of us can be found in this situation, and it is helpful to recognize the signs for yourself, but also for your loved ones. The same symptoms occur in children and adolescents.

Anxiety Disorder Symptoms

Feeling nervous, restless or tense Increased heart rate
Sleep problems (usually insomnia)
Feeling week
Tiredness
Inability to concentrate
Having a sense of danger
Having an increased heart rate
Breathing rapidly
Sweating
Avoiding social activities
Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems
Excessive worrying
Irritability

Lemon balm tea (Melissa officinalis)

Lemon balm tea is one of my favorite natural remedy for stress and anxiety. I have this plant in my garden because I love how it smells when it is fresh (like a lemon). Follow the directions on how to prepare the tea and then add a few drops of lemon and honey in it. Don’t add sugar. This tea will help you to calm down and also this can help you to treat Insomnia if you take it before bed. Take one glass of this tea before bed so you can fall asleep better. Avoid taking this in the morning because you might feel sleepy and fatigue.

Chamomile tea

As a child my mum always gave me chamomile tea. Drinking chamomile tea has always helped me with my nervous stomach. If you don’t like the lemon balm tea, then chamomile is a good alternative which you can drink in the morning too because it won’t make you sleepy.

Essential oils and scents

I don’t like lavender oil, and some swear that this oil is the best. But for me, this isn’t true. I believe that aromatherapy is a very personal thing. For me, home-baked cookies and brownies, butter, lemon, melted chocolate, the smell of a pancake are scents that always help me feel better. I recommend my clients to explore which scents help them with the anxiety. For example, one client wanted to smell tangerine or orange, and this was the only scent that helped him with anxiety. Be very careful with smells because there are some which may trigger something and then you will have to visit a therapist. This happened to me once, and that is why I avoid perfumes and try to stick with baking cookies or bread at home and drinking lemonade.

Food rich in OMEGA 3, MAGNESIUM and VITAMIN B

This is something very important to include in your diet especially vitamin B6 which can help you a lot. Take vitamin B6 before going to bed because it will help you to fall asleep. Also, don’t forget to check your vitamin D levels. Eating healthy will help you with everything not only with anxiety so always take care of your health. You are what you eat! This is maybe not a rule, but it is important for your overall health.

Walking and exercise

Walking is something that will help you and your body to treat anxiety. If you own a dog, then you can walk every day. Also, pets are a great company. Try walking at least 10 minutes every day, and I am sure you will notice a difference. When I am anxious and have time, I always walk alone and think. This is my way of meditation and listening to my body. I don’t exercise these days but if you can then gym is the right place for you. Exercise will also help you to get rid of your anxiety naturally and to clear your mind. People swear by Yoga. I highly recommend you to start with Yoga if you suffer from anxiety.

Practice Meditation

This one is tough for those suffering from anxiety, but it is worth trying. I also can’t meditate, but I love personal development challenges. I have several on this blog, and if you are into personal development, you can check them out.

Our brain is programmed to worry, and this is especially true for those who suffer from anxiety. Meditation is the best tool to silence your mind and clear your thoughts. At that moment you can take a breath and slow down a bit. To achieve this state is not an easy thing, but I believe that if you apply some of the other recommendations, you will succeed. Do not be annoyed if you fail to get started. Meditation requires a lot of time and desire. What I like to do is finding a good guided meditation. It’s easier for me to be calm if I follow instructions.

Read more books

When I say more, I mean much more. TV series are a big NO when you are anxious, and this is something I felt on my skin. Movies and TV series, novels are a disaster. Yes, they are great for fun in a normal situation, but if you are anxious, they will only increase anxiety. They have very shocking stories that are deliberately made to attract us. Find books for personal growth and development and enjoy. With this type of books, you will be motivated, you will learn something new, you will relax, and you will have enough fun without even further distress.

But what you need to remember is that all self-help books are motivating and give some guidance and ideas on how to change your behavior to make you happier, but they can not give you the formula for your happiness. You are the only person who can find a way to your own happiness. That’s why the next step is to visit a therapist.

Visit a therapist

This is perhaps the most crucial step. Anyone who has an anxiety disorder should visit a therapist. In therapy you will discover a lot of things for yourself, you will have the opportunity to analyze and identify the path to your well-being. I am sure that your therapist will guide you in the process of finding new ways to deal with constant care, unrealistic fears and difficulties to concentrate.

What To Do If You Can’t Afford Therapy?

Have ME time

How to implement at least some of these things in your life? You must specify enough time during the day for you. Just for you. For example, you can start every morning with chamomile tea, writing in your diary or meditating. You can later practice yoga, go to the gym, or walk. Take all the necessary vitamins with the first tea, so you do not forget. Before going to bed, take a cup of lemon balm tea and read a book for 20 minutes. Take one hour a week for a meeting with your psychotherapist. I believe that if you devote a little time each day for yourself, you will experience improvement after a while.

Listen to your mind and body

Every person is different and that is why this step is most important. Listen to your body. What does it tell you? Where do you want to be? What do you want to do? Every person knows what to do when is not feeling well, you just have to listen. Maybe ice cream will be a better remedy for you or swimming. Or maybe listening to music, or writing. Journaling is a great way to deal with your emotions and thoughts, but this is not true for everyone.

These are just some of the ways you can deal with anxiety. Do not forget that you must first consult your doctor who may assess that it is essential to introduce medication. But, however, all these suggestions are helpful for you and will not cause you any harm.
